Summer vacation time is here and upon us. However so are the heavy handed oil barons who could care less how they affect the travel industry and vacation resorts around the world? With the high cost of gasoline and the rising inflation most people are beginning to think that their vacation time will be kept around the house this year or at least within the state people live in.
Some of the best summer vacations spot will be within a 100 mile radius of your home. The use of state park grounds is expected to be higher this year than any other time in recent history. Amusement parks such as Sea World, Six Flags, and other amusement facilities are expecting more local residents that the traditional tourist in the coming years.
The Airline industry is noticing a sharp cut back in ticket purchases for the coming summer vacation period. There is a significant down turn in booking on sea liners with the increase in their fuel prices and prices of food.
Many people are looking for close by resorts treats within their own cities. One hotel manager said he expected an increase in sales to local patrons for the time being. He feels people still want and need quality vacation local attractions.
Families with friends and neighbors are looking for ways to reconnect to their community centers so that their vacation plans will not be harmed. Local attractions such as Zoo’s, flower gardens and sporting arenas are bringing in well known personalities and attractions to draw large crowds. Depending on how long the gas prices remain high, there may be much family owned businesses that will end up going out of business because of the oil shortage. Many of the mom and pop motel owners will have to close their doors because people will not spend their vacations at home.
There is no need to deny that people need vacations. How can we resolve these issues of money and very limited? The first option is to gather a group of people who you would consider traveling as a group. Groups will attract the attention of those perchance who might get better pricing in groups as well as better entertainment.
